Hiring people only to check a box and to appear inclusive and not because they are talented, creative individual is bound to bring calamity to the studio. The most infamous example of this is the race swapping in the Disney Live Aciton movie. They purposely only hire non white actor to fill the Dei quota like with the Little Mermaid and Snow White. It was stated they were only looking for black actresses for Ariel and Latinas for Snow White so it was not like Disney was open to audition of people of all races and they happen to choose Rachel Zegler and Hallie Bailey because they are the most talented. They were only hired because they are a minority.
With Trump bringing an end to DEI, do you think this will help Disney somewhat? I know Disney main issue is their problem with story telling, but I think the issue was worsened by the DEI because they wouldn't hire someone base on their merit, but base on their labels even if they aren't qualified for the job. I also know excessive executive meddling is also a huge issue too Modern Disney, but I think with removing DEI, it will help a lot because sometimes an executive would tell the creative to adjust the story to appease a certain poltical agenda if you catch my drift.
I'm not saying the single new change will bring a new golden age for Disney, but I hope at least the change will force Disney to learn from their mistake and to get out of their local echo chamber and be more in touch with reality.
